EVENTS

Here  we are, well into another year! Plans are afoot for our ongoing events calender! We also plan to attend local rallies like Lumley and Bishop Aukland again this year so do keep an eye out for our table and say hello! I will post details of events to this page `as and when`!

Over the weekend of the 25th of April, we took part in the celebrations for International Marconi Day. Working from Souter Lighthouse with the callsign GB2SJ . we had a great weekend. The event was well attended and we had lots of members of the public visit us! We also drank loads of coffee, ate loads of chips, and, oh yes, we played with the radio!!! Check out 2E0HHU at work

The Weekend of the 9/10th of May saw us in the heart of Wearside at Fullwell windmill as part of the Mills on the air weekend, we had great weather (for a change) good food and company and some great contacts! As usual, we were provided with excellent facilities and had a good response from the public!

Our next `outing` is the weekend of the 15/16th of August, again at Souter lighthouse to celebrate International Lighthouse and Lightships weekend. This is a worldwide event with hundreds of stations trying to contact as many `award stations` as possible! Wewill use the lighthouses own callsign, GB2SJ, ( the SJ suffix is the original one from the trinity house days!) Listen out for us on all modes and bands right over the weekend and , if you are in the area, why not pop along for a coffee? The lighthouse is certainly worth a visit!! It was the first in the world to be powered by electricity and remains in pristine condition!

Over the weekend of the 10th October we `set up shop` in the heart of Kielder forest for our autumn field trip, Despite missing Mick (G1SUI)s cooking ( we all wish him a speedy recovery) a very good time was had by all. The weather was decent and the midgy population had all but died off! Propagation  was excellent and at night we were treated to an almost endless firework display as we were sharing the forest with the Dutch army!!

The club will be holding its Annual General Meeting in the church hall on Monday 23rd of November begining at 1900. All are welcome and there will be a buffet to follow. We will set a date then for our christmas meal. I hope to see as many of you as possible!

On 29th November we will be at Bishop Aukland rally and invite everyone to pop along to our tables and say `Hi`
